When they moved into their house six years ago, homeowners in Marietta, OH, intended to live there for the foreseeable future. That’s why they were very concerned when they recently noticed potential structural problems begging to worsen. An area of two of the back foundation walls had cracks and gaps in the corner, which indicates foundation failure and settlement.
The homeowners wanted to address these problems before any serious damage resulted. After finding information online about Ohio Basement Authority, the owners were eager to contact us to learn more about how we could help them. They met with Drew Black who evaluated the condition of the home’s foundation. He discussed his findings – including settlement of more than one inch – with the owners, as well as their repair goals. Drew then presented the perfect solution to correct the problem.
One of our crews, led by Foreman Ben O’Bryant, then installed several Push Piers underneath the settling corner.
After digging down to expose the foundation’s footing, heavy-duty steel brackets were secured. Rugged steel tubes were then driven through the brackets to competent soils. The weight of the house was then transferred through the piers to load-bearing strata. This ensures no further settlement will occur, and the home’s wall can be lifted back to level.
The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing their house will be a safe and stable living environment for many years to come because of these trustworthy repairs.
