From this book, he learned his favorite methods of behavior modification. “Quite simply, catch someone doing something right. Be specific and congratulate them. Once you’ve done this, you can more easily identify a behavior that needs to be altered while keeping a positive mood, which often leads to a successful outcome.”
After living in their house for several years, homeowners in Sunbury, OH, were motivated to address continuous problems in their basement once and for all. Water leaked inside the basement every time it rained, and this leakage seemed to occur in a section that also had walls that were cracking and tilting inward.
The owners plan to live in the house for many years, so having a safe, dry and healthy living environment is important to them. As they began to research how to address these issues, they came across information about Ohio Basement Authority online, and they started browsing through our website as well. They were eager to contact us to learn more about how we could help them. After they did so, they met with Inspector Zeke Fowler who completed a thorough evaluation of the basement. After discussing his findings with the owners, as well as their goals for repair, Zeke then recommended some of our reliable basement waterproofing and foundation repair solutions.
Foreman Ben O'Bryant and his crew waterproofed the basement with the WaterGuard and TrenchDrain drainage systems. These systems intercept seeping water and direct it to the UltraSump sump pump that was installed to replace the older, failing sump pump system. Equipped with two powerful pumps inside the liner, the UltraSump also features an external backup battery. This battery ensures the system will always operate and work to pump water out of the basement even during power outages. Additionally, an IceGuard was attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line.
Several Geo-Lock Wall Anchors also were installed on the adjacent cracking, tilting foundation wall. These heavy-duty, galvanized steel anchors permanently stabilize the walls, prevent any further cracking or inward bowing, and offer the best opportunity to straighten the walls because of their unique design.
The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing these trustworthy repairs have helped them create a safe, stable and dry forever home.
A homeowner in Upper Arlington, OH, around suburban Columbus, wanted to make sure her family would have a safe and healthy living environment. Starting from the ground and working her way up, the owner wanted to tackle various repair projects. One involved addressing the out of sight, out of mind crawl space. This area was unsightly and unhealthy, and was affecting the above living environment.
The owner started to research repair options, and she found information about Ohio Basement Authority online. She then met with Inspector Zeke Fowler who completed a thorough evaluation of the crawl space. Zeke then recommended the perfect repairs to transform this area under the house.
Foreman Milton Castro and his crew waterproofed the crawl space with the SmartPipe drainage system. This system was directed to tie into the existing sump pump system in the basement to help keep the crawl space dry. Drainage matting was placed on the crawl space floor to help direct water to the perimeter SmartPipe system, as well as enhance the durability of the encapsulation material.
The crawl space was then insulated with SilverGlo panels that were placed on the walls, and encapsulated with CleanSpace liner. CleanSpace completely seals the crawl space to isolate it from the earth.
A section of failing floor joists that contributed to above floor sagging was shored up with a supplemental support beam and SmartJacks underneath. These heavy-duty, galvanized steel supports permanently stabilize the floor joists and help raise the floor back to level. They also will not rust or corrode. They are designed to stop settling, but can easily be adjusted if any settlement occurs.
The owner is happy to have a safer and healthier home because of these trustworthy repairs.
