They have lived in their house for 14 years, but homeowners in Ontario, OH, just noticed some significant changes in their foundation walls within the last year. Several areas of the walls were cracking and appeared to be tilting inward. These issues, which are signs of foundation failure, were only worsening over time.
Motivated to find the best permanent solution, the homeowners began to research repair options. After they found Ohio Basement Authority’s website, they were eager to contact us to learn more about how we could help them. They met with Inspector Jacob Thomas who completed a thorough evaluation of the home. Jacob then presented the owners with one type of our many reliable foundation repair solutions.
One of our crews, led by Joe Stuber, then permanently stabilized the problematic foundation walls by installing several Carbon Fiber supports. These heavy-duty supports firmly adhere to the walls to hold them in their current positions, as well as prevent any further cracking and inward bowing. The low profile of these straps allows them to easily be concealed with paint or other basement finishing materials. Any cracks along the walls also were filled and repaired.
The homeowners are pleased to now have a safe and stable forever home because of this repair project.
Homeowners in Columbus, OH, may decide to sell their house in the future, so they wanted to take proactive steps to ensure its structural integrity and resale value.
The owners have lived in the house more than 30 years, and during that time they have noticed issues such as foundation wall cracking and bowing starting to get worse.
These are common signs of foundation wall failure, most often caused by hydrostatic pressure. As the soil outside the foundation walls expands from saturation, it exerts pressure on the walls. This constant force then causes the walls to fail.
Hoping to find a permanent solution, the owners contacted Ohio Basement Authority after learning more about our company through home repair resources like Home Advisor. We then installed some of our reliable foundation repair products.
Five Geo-Lock Wall Anchors were installed on the problematic south foundation wall. This wall had significant gaps between the cracking blocks, but the sturdy wall anchors corrected this. Not only do these galvanized steel anchors permanently stabilize the wall, they offer the best opportunity to straighten it. Their unique design allows them to be tightened at intervals for wall improvement.
Six Carbon Fiber supports were installed on the east foundation wall that was also cracking and bowing, but not as severely as the south wall. These heavy-duty supports also permanently reinforce the wall and prevent further cracking and inward bowing. They can easily be concealed by paint, drywall or paneling.
The owners now have peace of mind knowing the home will be structurally sound not only for themselves, but for future homeowners for many years to come.
After living in their house for 20 years, a cracking and bowing foundation wall was beginning to concern homeowners in Columbus, OH. The block pilaster also showed signs of movement as the wall was bowing inward. The are dangerous signs of wall failure that will only continue to worsen over time, and the homeowners were ready to address them once and for all.
The owners did their research and obtained repair estimates from a variety of companies. But they were most impressed with our permanent solution of reinforcing the wall with several Geo-Lock Wall Anchors. We installed seven of these heavy-duty, galvanized steel anchors on the problematic foundation wall to not only stabilize it, but also improve it. We also repaired the wall cracks and rebuilt the failing portion of the pilaster.
Water intrusion also was an issue during heavy rains, so we installed basement waterproofing solutions including the WaterGuard interior drainage system and UltraSump sump pump. An IceGuard was attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line.
The owners are pleased these projects were completed so their home will be structurally stable and dry for many years to come.

When Inspector Travis Burkart first visited the homeowners to complete a thorough evaluation of the home and its waterproofing system, he noticed an issue outside. Water had frozen on the outside of the sump pump discharge lines. This can cause major problems inside the home including water seepage and flooding.
To address this problem, we attached IceGuards to the sump pump discharge lines. These attachments will allow water to escape should the discharge lines freeze or become blocked.
The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing these basement waterproofing solutions will keep their home dry for many more years to come.
