Brendan brings a focused, intelligent approach to each job he is involved with and is a true professional. Along with meeting new people, Brendan enjoys helping homeowners understand and solve their basement and crawl space problems.
A Reynoldsburg resident, he loves kids, dogs, and cats. In his spare time, Brendan enjoys fishing, boating, and watching his son, Jonathan, play football and wrestling.
While homeowners in Pataskala, OH, have lived in their house since it was built six years ago, they recently noticed a problem in their basement after heavy rains. Water leaked into several areas, leaving behind wet carpet and drywall.
The owners wanted to make sure their basement and home would be healthy and safe, so they started to research basement waterproofing systems. They found information about Ohio Basement Authority online and were eager to contact us for further guidance. Inspector Brendan Kent visited to complete a thorough evaluation of the leaking basement. Brendan then presented the owners with some of our reliable basement waterproofing solutions.
One of our crews, led by Foreman Valentin Rosales, first removed the existing drywall and insulation from the walls, and then began to install solutions including the WaterGuard interior drainage system, UltraSump Battery Backup System, CleanSpace wall system, and exterior IceGuard attachment.
WaterGuard was placed in the sub-floor to catch seeping water from the walls and floor. Any water intercepted by WaterGuard is directed to the UltraSump system, which features two powerful pumps inside its liner along with an external backup battery. The UltraSump then pumps this water out of the home and away from the foundation. Additionally, an IceGuard was attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line to prevent flooding from frozen or blocked lines.
In place of the older insulation, we covered the walls with the CleanSpace wall system. CleanSpace typically is used to encapsulate crawl spaces, but it also is useful in basements. This thick and durable liner is completely waterproof, and it helps direct any seeping water from the walls down to the WaterGuard system in the floor.
The homeowners are happy to now have a more reliable basement waterproofing system to help keep their home safe and dry for many years to come.
A homeowner in Croton, OH, wondered why his floors were always cold in the winter, and why he was noticing more mice and mold around his house. He rarely goes into the multiple crawl spaces underneath his home, so he didn’t realize the problems were coming from these areas.
He contacted Ohio Basement Authority after learning more about our company online, and Inspector Brendan Kent completed a thorough evaluation at the 95-year-old home. In the separate crawl spaces, Brendan found moldy and failing insulation, debris, and open vents.
Not only are these conditions unhealthy for the crawl spaces, they also affect the health of the rest of the home. They can also lead to health problems like asthma and allergies, or make these issues worse.
Brendan then proposed several permanent crawl space repair options. While the homeowner received repair estimates from other companies, he liked our methods the best.
One of our expert crews first took great care to remove the insulation and debris from each crawl space, then they placed sheets of TerraBlock on the floors. The crawl spaces were then completely encapsulated in CleanSpace liner, and SilverGlo panels were installed on the walls. All of these products help insulate the crawl spaces and improve their appearance and functionality.
Spray foam insulation was added to the crawl space rim joists for extra protection, vent covers were installed outside the home to seal the crawl spaces from outside air and pests, and a SaniDry XP dehumidifier was installed in the basement to control humidity.
The owner was excited to have these projects completed so his home will be a healthier and more energy efficient living environment for many more years to come.
Homeowners in Reynoldsburg, OH, have lived in their house since it was built almost 40 years ago. Various repairs have been completed during that time, including installing structural steel I-Beams and sealing the walls to reinforce the cracking foundation walls. Water also leaked into the basement though these foundation wall cracks, saturating the walls and floor and leaving puddles and visible damage behind. This resulted in an unsightly and unhealthy basement.
The homeowners’ son wanted to help his parents correct these issues so the basement and the rest of the home would be a healthy living environment. He knew he could count on one of his friends, an inspector with Ohio Basement Authority, to help him in this venture. Inspector Brendan Kent completed a thorough evaluation of the basement, and he presented his friend and the homeowners with several reliable basement waterproofing solutions.
One of our experienced crews transformed the basement by installing the WaterGuard interior drainage system to catch any water that might seep through the wall and floor. The crew also replaced the older sump pump system with the SuperSump sump pump. The SuperSump features a powerful Zoeller ® 1/3 hp sump pump that can pump more than 2,000 gallons of water per hour out of a basement. This system was installed in the larger TripleSafe liner to allow for easy future upgrades.
An IceGuard was attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line, and this line was tied into new downspout conductor lines that were installed on the property.
The CleanSpace wall system was used to cover the unsightly walls and help with waterproofing. Any seeping water will run behind the liner and down to the WateGuard system below. The CleanSpace liner also acts as a moisture and vapor barrier.
The homeowners and their son now have peace of mind knowing these reliable solutions have helped create a safer living environment.
New homeowners were excited to move into a house they just purchased in Westerville, OH. As they began to make the home their own with personal touches, they discovered a problem near the basement. The partial crawl space adjacent to the basement was not properly sealed or insulated, there was debris on the gravel floor, and there was evidence of moisture and water intrusion.
The owners wanted to ensure the health of their living environment, so they began to research how to best address these issues. After learning about Ohio Basement Authority from a satisfied customer, the owners were eager to contact us for further guidance. They met with Inspector Brendan Kent who completed a thorough evaluation of the problematic crawl space. Brendan then presented the owners with the perfect repair solutions.
After first removing the failing insulation, debris and other nuisances from the crawl space, Foreman Milton Castro and his crew then installed waterproofing solutions to keep the crawl space dry. SmartPipe was placed in the crawl space floor to catch seeping water. This water is then directed to an UltraSump sump pump to be pumped out of the home.
Drainage matting was placed on the crawl space floor to help direct seeping water to the perimeter SmartPipe system, as well as enhance the durability of the encapsulation material. CleanSpace liner was then used to encapsulate the crawl space and fully isolate this area from the earth.
SilverGlo insulation panels were placed on the walls, and spray foam insulation was applied to the band joists.
The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing the crawl space, as well as the rest of their home, is now a safer, healthier, and more functional area because of these trustworthy repair solutions.
Homeowners in Worthington, OH, fell in love with the historic charm of their more than 100-year-old house a few years ago. However, they were concerned with water intrusion in the basement.
They wanted to make sure the home would be a safe and dry living environment, so they contacted Ohio Basement Authority after learning more about our company on our website. We met the challenge of waterproofing a stone basement head-on, and installed several permanent solutions that will always keep the basement dry.
These included the WaterGuard interior drainage system and UltraSump Battery Back-Up sump pump system. These products create the perfect waterproofing combination because the WaterGuard catches any seeping water and directs it to the UltraSump, which pumps it out of the basement and away from the foundation. The powerful sump pump system was installed inside the larger TripleSafe sump pump liner for easy future system upgrades.
New downspout conductor lines were also installed on the property, and an IceGuard was attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line. An energy-efficient SaniDry XP dehumidifier was also installed to dry and filter the air, as well as prevent mold and reduce odors.
The owners were also concerned with the stone walls, so the CleanSpace wall system was installed. CleanSpace is more commonly used to encapsulate crawl spaces, but this durable liner can also be installed on foundation walls. Along with improving the walls’ appearance, CleanSpace stops water vapor from permeating the walls and drains wall leaks.
The owners were excited these various permanent solutions were installed so their home will be a healthier living environment for many more years to come.
While they have lived in their house for many years, longtime homeowners in Bucyrus, OH, wanted to be sure they had a trustworthy waterproofing system in their basement. They were concerned with moisture in the basement and the rest of the house, and they wondered how efficient the existing system really was.
After hearing about Ohio Basement Authority, the owners wanted to contact us for further guidance. They met with Inspector Brendan Kent who evaluated the condition of their home’s waterproofing system. He noted that the current sump pump system appeared to be outdated and was starting to show signs of failure. Before they had to deal with a flood situation, Brendan recommended upgrading their waterproofing system to more reliable products.
The homeowners agreed with Brendan’s assessment, and they were eager for Foreman Milton Castro and his crew to complete this project. We installed the WaterGuard interior drainage system and SuperSump sump pump in the basement.
WaterGuard is specially designed to sit in the sub-floor and atop the footing in order to catch seeping water from the walls and floor. This water is then directed to the SuperSump to be pumped out of the basement and away from the home. The SuperSump features a powerful ½ hp pump that can pump more than 2,000 gallons of water per hour out of the basement. The SuperSump is one of the many reliable sump pump systems we offer, and we installed this system in the homeowners’ basement in the larger sump liner used for the TripleSafe system to allow for easy future upgrades.
The owners now have peace of mind knowing their home will be protected by these trustworthy repairs.
