New homeowners in Ironton, OH, were finding water leakage in the basement corner where the gutters were draining. The previous owners placed a runoff extension at the base, but water was still running into the basement after rains. The was causing damages to the basement, including the wood paneling. THe homeowners then researched potential repairs online and they contacted Ohio Basement Authority for further guidance.
Inspector Steve Davis met with the owners, surveyed the problem, and determined what the best options for repair were. He quoted them for a new exterior drainage lines that would carry this gutter water into the street instead of alongside their foundation walls.
One of our crews then installed a three-inch diameter pipe under the sidewalk and yard to drain water away from the home. This polyethylene pipe will not split, break, or crack like other generic pipe materials.
The homeowners are pleased to now have a more reliable exterior drainage system that will help keep their home dry.
