Foundation Repair Case Studies: Waterproofing a Leaking Basement and Stabilizing a Failing Foundation Wall in Wheelersburg, OH

Challenge

Homeowners in Wheelersburg, OH, have lived in their house for 30 years. During that time, some problems in their home have gotten worse and very concerning.

Water was leaking into their basement, leaving some puddles and visible damage behind. One of the foundation walls in the basement that also extended into the attached garage was showing signs of failure in the form of various cracks. The wall also was slightly tilting inward.

Not only were the homeowners concerned with how these problems would affect their living environment and personal belongings, they wondered if these conditions also could affect their ability to sell the home in the future.

They were unsure where to turn for assistance, but they were motivated to contact Ohio Basement Authority after seeing our TV ads. They then met with one of our inspectors who evaluated the condition of the basement and garage. He then recommended some of our reliable basement waterproofing and foundation repair solutions.

Solution

One of our crews then installed these products that included the WaterGuard interior drainage system and SuperSump sump pump. If and when any water seeps inside the basement through the walls and floor, this water will be intercepted by the sub-floor WaterGuard system.

The water is then directed to the SuperSump sump pump. This system features a powerful ½ hp pump that can pump more than 2,000 gallons of water per hour out of the basement. The SuperSump is one of the many reliable sump pump systems we offer, and we installed this system in the homeowners’ basement in the larger sump liner used for the TripleSafe system to allow for easy future upgrades.

We also helped waterproof the home from the outside. An IceGuard was attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line to allow water to continue to escape if the line freezes or becomes blocked. A LawnScape outlet was also placed on the end of the buried discharge line to camouflage the line.

To address the problematic foundation wall, we installed several PowerBrace beams. Unlike typical steel beams, these reliable PowerBrace beams are unique in their ability to be tightened for potential wall improvement.

The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing these trustworthy solutions have helped them create a living environment that will be safe, stable, and dry for many years to come.
