After living in her house for six years, a homeowner in Westerville, OH, was growing tired of a small glass block window in her finished basement. While glass block windows do allow natural light into the basement, this particular window was not quite what the homeowner hoped it would be.

She was interested in having an egress window system installed, so she contacted Ohio Basement Authority after learning about this service through our website.

Not only are egress windows attractive and safe additions, they are home necessities. Residential building code requires habitable spaces, such as finished basements, to have a means of egress.

We carefully excavated the area outside the existing window to remove it and create a larger space for the new window. The new window with a larger frame and double-pane glass, is durable and energy-efficient.  Then the lightly colored window well and translucent well cover were installed. These pieces allow more natural light to enter the basement while keeping leaves, debris, water and other nuisances out of the window area.

The homeowner is excited to have an updated an energy-efficient basement window system.

During the last several years, homeowners in Westerville, OH, have been monitoring a potential structural issue outside their home. They noticed a retaining wall outside their basement walk-out was beginning to fail. It was cracking and slightly tilting inward.

The homeowners were not only concerned about their safety, but how these issues could affect the future resale of their house. They were motivated to contact Ohio Basement Authority after seeing our TV ads. After meeting with one of our inspectors, the homeowners were equally excited for one of our crews to fix these problems for good.

First, the crew excavated the earth outside the retaining wall down to the wall’s footer. The wall was then pushed back to as plumb as possible. Then, two Geo-Lock Wall Anchors were installed to further straighten and stabilize the retaining wall. Wall Anchor Covers were placed over the visible anchor plates to conceal them, and all cracks were repaired and filled.

The homeowners are pleased this reliable repair solution has helped enhance the safety and appearance of their home.

New homeowners were excited to move into a house they just purchased in Westerville, OH. As they began to make the home their own with personal touches, they discovered a problem near the basement. The partial crawl space adjacent to the basement was not properly sealed or insulated, there was debris on the gravel floor, and there was evidence of moisture and water intrusion.

The owners wanted to ensure the health of their living environment, so they began to research how to best address these issues. After learning about Ohio Basement Authority from a satisfied customer, the owners were eager to contact us for further guidance. They met with one of our inspectors who completed a thorough evaluation of the problematic crawl space. Our inspector then presented the owners with the perfect repair solutions.

After first removing the failing insulation, debris and other nuisances from the crawl space, Foreman Milton Castro and his crew then installed waterproofing solutions to keep the crawl space dry. SmartPipe was placed in the crawl space floor to catch seeping water. This water is then directed to an UltraSump sump pump to be pumped out of the home.

Drainage matting was placed on the crawl space floor to help direct seeping water to the perimeter SmartPipe system, as well as enhance the durability of the encapsulation material. CleanSpace liner was then used to encapsulate the crawl space and fully isolate this area from the earth.

SilverGlo insulation panels were placed on the walls, and spray foam insulation was applied to the band joists.

The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing the crawl space, as well as the rest of their home, is now a safer, healthier, and more functional area because of these trustworthy repair solutions.

Interested in receiving solution with quote for basement egress or custom masonry well for our beautiful finished basement space. Currently we have 2 traditional window wells with above-ground small glass-block windows that do not open. Basement is poorly vented and gets very warm with several people in the space. As is, it's barely usable for entertaining. We want to add egress windows to add light, openness and ventilation to the space.
