Updated Exterior Drainage Will Help Keep a Home Dry in Ostrander, OH

Homeowners in Ostrander, OH, have lived in their house since it was built five years ago. Recently, they began to notice problems with their exterior drainage. They were concerned water could leak back into their home and cause problems they were trying to avoid.

As the owners began to research potential repairs, they came across Ohio Basement Authority’s website. They were then eager to contact us to learn more about how we could help them. They met with one of our inspectors who completed a thorough evaluation of the home and its drainage. Our inspector then recommended updating the exterior drainage system.

One of our crews then installed new downspout conductor lines on the property. These lines were placed in the ground and directed to drain water far away from the home’s foundation. An IceGuard was attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line to prevent flooding from frozen or blocked lines. A LawnScape also was used to conceal the end of the buried discharge line in the yard.

The homeowners are happy to have an updated exterior drainage system that will help keep water out of their home.

TripleSafe Sump Pump Will Always Keep a Newly Built Home Dry in Ostrander, OH

As they put the finishing touches on their newly built house, homeowners in Ostrander, OH, wanted to make sure every precaution would be taken to maintain their home’s safety. This included addressing the existing sump pump. The owners were concerned with the efficiency and effectiveness of the current system, and they wanted another opinion.

The owners contacted Ohio Basement Authority after learning more about our company, and they met with one of our highly trained inspectors. After assessing the current sump pump system, the inspector recommended the perfect upgrade that would always keep their home dry.

We installed the “king of sump pump systems,” the TripleSafe. Equipped with three powerful pumps inside its large liner, as well as external backup battery, the TripleSafe will always work to keep water out of the basement.

The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing they have taken a major step in ensuring their home’s health and safety.

Carbon Fiber and PowerBrace Beams Re-Stabilize Walls in Ostrander, OH

Homeowners in Ostrander, OH, began experiencing cracks and bowling in their walls, and noticed that their kitchen floor was slightly tilting. They built the house in 1976, so they were able to watch this worsen over time and knew it wouldn't fix itself.

They called Ohio Basement Authority to address their concerns. The inspector established that these issues were due to foundation failure.

The installation crew came in and installed nine carbon fiber straps and four PowerBrace supports to re-stabilize the effected walls.

Carbon Fiber is a material that is almost impossible to stretch due to its high tensile strength, which is resistance to break under tension. It can be adhered to concrete walls to keep them from bending or bowing further inward.

The PowerBrace supports are zinc-plated steel beams which are custom-fit to the wall height and secured with brackets anchored to the basement floor. These can be tightened over time to reverse wall failure.

The homeowners are comforted knowing that these reliable repairs will keep their foundation sturdy and supported for years to come.

Basement Waterproofing in Ostrander, OH

A home in Ostrander, OH, had water that was beginning to enter a walk-out basement door. Also, water was not able to drain from the roof and perimeter drain fast enough during heavy rains. The basement had inner and outer perimeter drains with natural drainage. After having water in the entire basement, the homeowners decided they needed professional help.

A certified inspector from Ohio Basement Authority came in and determined the best route for fixing these problems. After this was decided, the installation crew came in and began by installing a SuperSump sump pump including an UltraSump battery backup. This is a high-powered sump pump system which can pump 2,200 gallons of water per hour. The UltraSump provides backup and keeps the sump pump working in the event of a power outage.

Then, the crew installed a TrenchDrain in front of the basement door that was experiencing flooding. This is a uniquely designed drain which spans the width of the doorway. It has a grated opening which fits snugly on top to prevent tripping hazards.

Next, they installed several new discharge lines to give all the water the homeowners were experiencing a place to go. One line led to an existing city catch basin, and two lines led to new LawnScape Outlets in the yard. These outlets let water out onto the surface while camouflaging the end of the buried pipe and eliminating tripping and lawnmower hazards.

The homeowners are happy with the results and no longer have to worry about their basement flooding.
