Homeowners in Reynoldsburg, OH, have lived in their house since it was built almost 40 years ago. Various repairs have been completed during that time, including installing structural steel I-Beams and sealing the walls to reinforce the cracking foundation walls. Water also leaked into the basement though these foundation wall cracks, saturating the walls and floor and leaving puddles and visible damage behind. This resulted in an unsightly and unhealthy basement.

The homeowners’ son wanted to help his parents correct these issues so the basement and the rest of the home would be a healthy living environment. He knew he could count on one of his friends, an inspector with Ohio Basement Authority, to help him in this venture. One of our inspectors completed a thorough evaluation of the basement, and he presented his friend and the homeowners with several reliable basement waterproofing solutions.

One of our experienced crews transformed the basement by installing the WaterGuard interior drainage system to catch any water that might seep through the wall and floor. The crew also replaced the older sump pump system with the SuperSump sump pump. The SuperSump features a powerful Zoeller ® 1/3 hp sump pump that can pump more than 2,000 gallons of water per hour out of a basement. This system was installed in the larger TripleSafe liner to allow for easy future upgrades.

An IceGuard was attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line, and this line was tied into new downspout conductor lines that were installed on the property.

The CleanSpace wall system was used to cover the unsightly walls and help with waterproofing. Any seeping water will run behind the liner and down to the WateGuard system below. The CleanSpace liner also acts as a moisture and vapor barrier.

The homeowners and their son now have peace of mind knowing these reliable solutions have helped create a safer living environment.

After living in their house for a few months, homeowners in Reynoldsburg, OH, had grown tired of the ugly and unhealthy partial crawl space adjacent to their basement. They stored some items along the edge of the crawl space, but they were quickly realizing this was not a suitable storage area in its current condition.

The crawl space was not properly sealed or insulated. The existing insulation was failing and drooping from the walls, and the homeowners were concerned mold could potentially be growing on the insulation. This would only aggravate their allergies and affect their wellbeing.

The homeowners wanted to address this problem once and for all. They were eager to contact Ohio Basement Authority after learning about our company online. They met with Inspector Jeff Floit, and Jeff assessed the condition of the crawl space. He then recommended the perfect solution to transform the crawl space’s appearance and health.

One of our crews first took great care to remove the nasty insulation and other debris from the crawl space. The crawl space was then encapsulated in CleanSpace liner. Similar to swimming pool liner, the thick and durable CleanSpace liner fully seals the crawl space from the earth. CleanSpace also acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, and it helps insulate the crawl space.

The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing this reliable solution has helped them create a healthy and functional crawl space, as well as a healthier forever home.

Egress Window Installed for Safety in Reynoldsburg, OH

After living in their house for a little more than one year, homeowners in Reynoldsburg, OH, wanted to start using their basement for additional living space. But they knew various repairs needed to be completed first.

According to the International Residential Code, all habitable spaces, including basements, are required to have at least one operational emergency escape or means of egress.

The owners contacted Ohio Basement Authority after finding information about our company through online resources like Yelp. They met with one of our inspectors, who helped them draw up a plan for the egress window system and its installation.

After carefully excavating the area outside where the new window was to be installed, one of our crews carefully cut into the block foundation wall to make room for the new window. The window’s all-vinyl frame is rust-resistant, and its double-pane glass is energy-efficient.

A lightly-colored window well was installed outside the window, which allows more natural light into the basement. A durable clear cover was attached to the well to enhance safety as well as keep leaves, debris and precipitation out of the window well.

The homeowners are happy to have an updated basement window system that enhances the safety and appearance of their home.

An IceGuard also was attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line to prevent flooding if the line freezes or becomes blocked.

The homeowners are happy to now have an updated exterior drainage system that will help keep their home dry.

Waterproofing and Stabilizing a Basement in Reynoldsburg, OH

Even after living in her house for several years, a homeowner in Reynoldsburg, OH, recently began to notice significant problems in the basement. Water was leaking inside more frequently, the sump pump could not keep up, and one wall was beginning to crack and tilt inward.

The owner plans to live in the house for the foreseeable future, so she wanted to have these issues fixed as soon as possible. She contacted Ohio Basement Authority after finding information about our company online, and she was eager to meet with one of our inspectors. After completing a thorough evaluation of the problematic basement, our inspector suggested some of our reliable basement waterproofing and foundation repair solutions.

The wall first was stabilized by several PowerBrace beams. These steel beams are fastened and secured to the floor joists. The beams are then plumbed against the wall as level as possible, and the bottom of the beams are anchored to the floor. These heavy-duty beams are zinc-plated beams so they are protected from corrosion and damage. Another unique feature with this system is the ability to tighten the beams during dry seasons to potentially improve and straighten the wall over time.

The basement was then waterproofed with WaterGuard, a special drainage system designed to sit in the sub-floor and atop the footing to intercept seeping water from the walls and floor. The water is then directed to the UltraSump sump pump to be pumped out of the house.

The homeowner can rest easier knowing these trustworthy repairs will keep her home safe and stable.
