Concrete Lifting with Foam: How Does It Work?

While you’ve got several concrete repair options to consider, some methods stand above the rest.

In a previous article, we answered the question, “What’s The Best Way to Level a Driveway?”

In this article, we’re going to answer the question, “How do I lift concrete with foam?”

Let’s dive into this hot topic!

How Do I Lift Concrete With Foam?

Rather than wasting time and money on concrete repair solutions that don’t work or guarantee long-term stability, invest in something that stands the test of time. Lifting concrete with polyurethane foam is a quicker, more lasting, cost-effective, eco-friendly, and less invasive choice.

Once professionals map out exactly what areas must be repaired and prepare the site, they mix a two-part, closed-cell polyurethane foam solution. They then meticulously inject the foam underneath the concrete

This foam is lightweight but mighty. Once injected underneath problematic concrete slabs, it quickly expands to fill gaps between the soil and slab. It works two-fold to stabilize the underlying soil and the above concrete. Foam injections also allow for precise lifting and leveling of sunken concrete slabs, something mudjacking cannot do.

What Are The Steps Involved in Foam Installation?

Every concrete lifting and leveling project is different, but here’s a look at the essential steps crews follow when lifting concrete with foam:

  • Inspect the concrete
  • Determine which areas require repair
  • Drill penny-sized holes into the concrete
  • Place injection ports into each hole
  • Mix the foam
  • Calculate the amount of foam needed
  • Inject the foam through the ports and under the concrete
  • Allow foam to expand, lift the concrete, and cure (approx.. 15 minutes)
  • Remove the ports and fill and smooth the holes
  • Seal cracks and joints

While this appears to be straightforward, lifting concrete with foam is not a DIY project. Trust local pros like the experienced team at Ohio Basement Authority to do the job right.
