"We just had our crawl space encapsulated and this company did an outstanding job. Our first interaction was with Mark Vouis who had the unfortunate task of crawling around our hideous crawlspace to come up with the initial estimate. He was thorough, friendly, explained everything well, and was able to work out all the financing before his visit was over. Our installation was done in the same week by two equally thorough, friendly, professionals named Ivan and Davis. Not only did they give our crawl space a desperately needed makeover but they also noticed a duct pipe had come detached and just went ahead and fixed that for us as well. Ivan made sure he walked us through everything they did when they were finished, showing us before and after pictures he took along the way of the entire crawl space. They were also very friendly with our pug who, despite weighing all of 15lbs, has delusions of grandeur and tried to tell them off the entire time they were working. I would very highly recommend this company to anyone who needs work done on their basement!"

Common Causes of your Basement Problems in Ironton

Foundation Cracks

Cracks in foundation walls or floors can let water seep into your basement, especially during heavy rain.

Poor Drainage Systems

Ineffective drainage, such as clogged gutters, downspouts, or poorly graded yards, directs water toward your foundation.

Hydrostatic Pressure

Water in the soil builds pressure against basement walls, filling the clay bowl, and forcing water through cracks and joints.

High Water Table

Rising groundwater during heavy rain or snowmelt can seep into your basement through cracks or porous concrete.

Faulty or Missing Sump Pump

Water from heavy rainfall or flooding can accumulate in your basement without a working sump pump.

Plumbing Leaks

Leaking pipes or fixtures near your foundation can saturate the soil, causing water to seep into your basement and cause moisture related problems.

FAQs

A basement waterproofing estimate typically includes an assessment of water seepage issues, inspection of wall cracks, and recommendations for solutions like sump pumps or interior drainage systems. The estimator will examine the hydrostatic pressure and any moisture problems that might require addressing. It's important to have a detailed plan to ensure effective foundation waterproofing.

Yes, wet basement walls are common in older homes due to outdated waterproofing methods and wear over time. Older construction often lacks modern protective measures like vapor barriers and proper drainage systems, making them prone to water seepage and efflorescence. An upgrade to current waterproofing techniques can resolve these issues effectively.

Ironton experiences significant rainfall and clay-heavy soils, which elevate hydrostatic pressure around foundation walls, leading to basement leaks. The expansive clay soil retains water and can exert pressure on the foundation, causing potential cracks and water intrusion. Managing drainage and soil conditions can mitigate these regional challenges.

Yes, we offer complimentary evaluations for basement leaks in Ironton to identify moisture sources and recommend preventative measures such as dehumidifiers or sump pumps. Our inspection focuses on understanding the causes of water seepage to provide tailored solutions. Contact us today to schedule your evaluation.

The three main types of basement waterproofing are interior drainage, exterior waterproofing membranes, and water diversion systems. Interior drainage systems manage water that enters through foundation walls, while exterior waterproofing involves sealing the outside walls to prevent water entry. Diversion systems steer water away from the home's foundation, complementing other approaches to achieve comprehensive protection.
